Dr Richard Bougher MBBS, FRCA, FANZCA Specialist Anaesthetist
Qualifications and experience
I graduated from medical school at the University of Western Australia in 1983. I did four years of anaesthetic training in the United Kingdom and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in 1992. In 1995 I became a Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) following anaesthetic training in Western Australia.
Since qualifying I have worked continuously in anaesthetic practice. This includes two years as a consultant anaesthetist (Attending) at a university hospital in the United States, and as a sessional anaesthetist at Fremantle Hospital until 2010.
I am currently working full time in private practice, and I am accredited to provide anaesthetic services at many private hospitals and day procedure facilities in Perth. The scope of my practice includes most subspecialties of adult anaesthesia (not cardiac), and paediatric anaesthesia (not neonates or babies).
I participate in the Continuing Professional Development program run by the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. This involves ongoing educational activities, practice evaluation and emergency response education.
I maintain general and specialist (Anaesthesia) registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
